Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. is erecting the new addition to the Elkridge Library in Elkridge, MD. The job features a central core with architecturally exposed tube trusses which were assembled in boxes on the ground and hoisted as one unit to eliminate the need for temporary bracing or shoring. The steel was fabricated by Crystal Steel Fabricators.

Dulles Metrorail – Phase 2 Progress
Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. is performing the structural steel erection on Phase 2 of the Dulles Metrorail (Silver Line) project. Steel Erection started this summer and the first station is nearing completion.
Work has also started on the assembly of the pedestrian bridges that will carry passengers from the wayside areas to the stations. The bridges will be assembled on the ground in sections that weigh up to 200,000 lbs, then hauled to their final location using our heavy haul rig and set in final position with one of Williams Construction Services’ fleet of cranes with up to 300-Ton capacity. VCU Institute for Contemporary Art
Update: The VCU Institute for Contemporary Art was named one of the “12 Most Anticipated Buildings of 2018” by Architectural Digest. This honor is meant to highlight structures worldwide that “will create an identity for their home cities”. The striking appearance and structural complexity of this building certainly meet this description. Check out the article for more information.
Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. is erecting the new Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University. Detailed analysis was required to determine how to erect this complex sloped and curved structure which included a unique shoring and guying plan. The steel was fabricated by Crystal Steel Fabricators. Construction progress can be tracked via webcam.

Liberty University Indoor Track Facility
Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. is erecting the structural steel for the new Indoor Track Facility in Lynchburg, VA. This facility, which will house a state of the art hydraulically banking track, is framed with custom trusses which required a thorough erection plan to account for the complexities of erecting this type of structure. The general contractor is Glass & Associates, Inc. and the steel was fabricated by Banker Steel Company.

150 Ton Truss at Harvest Life Changers Church
When it comes to large, complicated projects, Williams Industries, Inc. has the knowledge, experience and equipment to make even the most challenging visions come to life.
On January 16th, Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. erected a 150 ton, 206 ft long truss and 26 ton stabilizer truss as part of the auditorium roof at the new Harvest Life Changers Church facility in Woodbridge, VA. Williams Construction Services provided a 300 Ton lattice boom truck crane, 200 Ton crawler crane, and 175 Ton hydraulic truck crane for the lift. Of the 2,200 tons of steel on the project, fabricated by E&H Steel Corporation, about 350 tons will be incorporated into the completed roof.

Large Transformer Move
Williams Steel Erection Co., Inc. – Rigging Division recently moved a 710 Ton transformer in Rising Sun, MD for SPX Corporation. The move utilized the company’s Goldhofer heavy duty modular combination trailer in a double wide configuration as well as our Oshkosh M-911 (Prime Mover). Take a look at the pictures below.
